I was thrilled by the challenge doing traditional wedding makeup, it’s Sortali time! As you can see the sortali headbands and hat wore by the bride and groom.. it’s traditionally came from Batak - Sumatra.

And the brief was my client didn’t want to have her makeup to be colorful and makes her 20years older than her age now. She just wanted to look elegant…

I really agreed by the thought of having it elegant. I also consider of its tradition that the Batak’s bride would have like a big bun or we called it ‘konde’ also the red and gold sortali..

Because of the sortali is in solid red color, i didn’t prefer to use the same tone color for the makeup…because that will make her Angry Bride lol with full of red color x) nope, i didn’t think so.

The Bride was wearing off white under gold beads dominant Kebaya with gold and black dominan songket.. I thought berry or raisin or plum tone as the best preferenced. And it did!

I wouldn’t pushed people hard to decide which part to be focus on when their looking at the bride.

I hope this is the best way to deliver my clients’ espectation…to simply look elegant & stunning ;)
